Three Manitowoc undercounter families
Manitowoc divides its undercounter range by the kind of ice it makes. The table shows what each family is for before you look at individual models.
| Family | Ice | Output range (70/50) | Bin range | Typical buyers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NEO cube (UDP, UYP, URP, UCP) | Full dice, half dice, regular cube | 52-330 lb/day | 25-119 lb | Bars, restaurants, cafés, offices |
| Undercounter nugget (UNP) | Soft, chewable nugget | 213-330 lb/day | 20-50 lb | Healthcare, cafés, soft-drink service |
| Undercounter flake (UFP) | Soft, moldable flake | 257-398 lb/day | 50-60 lb | Seafood and produce displays, salad bars, blended drinks |
Most retailers mix these on one long list. Pick the family first, because the ice type decides which drinks and uses the machine suits. Compare the three types in our guide to cube vs nugget vs flake ice.
How to read a Manitowoc model number
Manitowoc model numbers follow a pattern, so you can tell a lot about a machine from its name.
| Position | Example (UDP0240A) | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1st letter | U | Undercounter, self-contained |
| 2nd letter | D | Ice type: D = full dice, Y = half dice, R = regular cube, N = nugget, F = flake, C = cube (UCP0050A) |
| 3rd letter | P | Product series. On our listings, P models are current; the E models (UDE0065A, UDE0080A) are listed as legacy and replaced by UDP versions |
| Digits | 0240 | Approximate daily output class (about 240 lb) |
| Suffix | A | Air-cooled. Our AZ listings (UNK and UFK models) are 230V/50Hz versions; see the note below |
The dice sizes: full dice is about 7/8 x 7/8 x 7/8 inch, half dice is about 3/8 x 7/8 x 7/8 inch, and regular cube is a larger cube for slower melting. Half dice packs tightly and chills soft drinks fast. Full dice is the all-purpose choice. Regular cube suits drinks that sit longer, like iced water at a restaurant table.
NEO cube undercounter models
NEO is Manitowoc's current self-contained cube platform. These are the models most buyers mean when they search for a Manitowoc undercounter ice machine.
| Model | Ice | Rated lb/day (70/50) | At 90/70 | Bin | Width |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UCP0050A | Cube | 52 | 44 | 25 lb | 14-3/4 in. |
| UDP0065A | Full dice | 62 | 48 | 31 lb | 19-11/16 in. |
| UDP0080A | Full dice | 110 | 75 | 31 lb | 19-11/16 in. |
| URP0140A | Regular cube | 130 | 107 | 90 lb | 26 in. |
| UDP0140A | Full dice | 140 | 110 | 90 lb | 26 in. |
| UDP0190A | Full dice | 200 | 175 | 90 lb | 26 in. |
| UDP0240A | Full dice | 240 | 197 | 90 lb | 26 in. |
| URP0310A | Regular cube | 300 | 245 | 119 lb | 30 in. |
| UDP0310A | Full dice | 315 | 263 | 119 lb | 30 in. |
| UYP0310A | Half dice | 330 | 270 | 119 lb | 30 in. |
The full NEO line-up, including sizing and installation detail, is on our Manitowoc NEO page.
Biggest step in value: the UDP0140A, UDP0190A and UDP0240A share a 26-inch cabinet and a 90 lb bin. Going from the 0140 to the 0240 adds about 87 lb/day of warm-day output in the same footprint. If you have the 26-inch opening, size up rather than down.
Undercounter nugget models
Manitowoc's undercounter nugget machines make soft, chewable ice from compressed flakes, the ice people call "Sonic ice". They suit healthcare, soft drinks, iced tea and smoothies.
| Model | Rated lb/day (70/50) | At 90/70 | Bin | Width | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UNP0200A | 213 | 164 | 20 lb | 19-11/16 in. | 115V / 60Hz |
| UNP0300A | 330 | 275 | 50 lb | 29-1/16 in. | 115V / 60Hz |
| UNK0200AZ | 145 | 117 | 30 lb | 19-11/16 in. | 230V / 50Hz |
| UNK0300AZ | 302 | 248 | 60 lb | 29-1/16 in. | 230V / 50Hz |
The UNP0200A has a small 20 lb bin for its output, so it suits steady, all-day service more than a single sharp rush. Compare every chewable-ice option on our undercounter nugget ice makers page, or see all Manitowoc nugget ice machines, including countertop dispensers.
Undercounter flake models
Flake ice is soft and moldable. It packs around food on a display, cools quickly and blends easily.
| Model | Rated lb/day (70/50) | At 90/70 | Bin | Width | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UFP0200A | 257 | 198 | 50 lb | 19-3/16 in. | 115V / 60Hz |
| UFP0350A | 398 | 328 | 60 lb | 29-1/16 in. | 115V / 60Hz |
| UFK0200AZ | 257 | 198 | 50 lb | 19-3/16 in. | 230V / 50Hz |
| UFK0350AZ | 398 | 328 | 60 lb | 29-1/16 in. | 230V / 50Hz |
The UFP0350A is the highest-output Manitowoc undercounter machine we carry, at 328 lb/day even at 90/70. For more flake options, see flake ice makers.
Important: check the voltage and frequency
The UNK and UFK listings ending in AZ are 230V / 50Hz configurations with CE electrical marking, built for markets with 50Hz power. U.S. and Canadian buildings use 60Hz power. For a standard U.S. installation, choose the UNP or UFP equivalent, which run on 115V / 60Hz. If you're unsure which version you need, contact us before ordering.
Legacy models and their replacements
Two models on this page are listed as legacy units:
- UDE0065A (57 lb/day) is replaced by the UDP0065A.
- UDE0080A (102 lb/day) is replaced by the UDP0080A.
The replacements produce slightly more ice in the same 19-11/16 inch cabinet. The UDP0080A makes 75 lb/day at 90/70 versus 71 lb for the UDE0080A, with the same 31 lb bin. Buy the legacy version only to match an existing setup or when stock and price make sense.
Sizing a Manitowoc undercounter machine
- Estimate your daily ice. Common rules of thumb: 1.5 lb per restaurant seat, 3 lb per bar seat, 1 lb per office worker.
- Use the 90/70 column. If your estimate is 150 lb/day, the UDP0190A (175 at 90/70) fits, while the UDP0140A (110 at 90/70) does not.
- Check the bin against your rush. If you use 60 lb in your busiest hour, a 31 lb bin will run out. The 26-inch models with a 90 lb bin won't.
- Measure the opening. Widths are about 15, 20, 26 and 30 inches. Allow for door swing and the airflow path in the installation manual.
| Business | Daily ice | Suggested Manitowoc |
|---|---|---|
| Office breakroom, 40-60 people | 40-60 lb | UCP0050A or UDP0065A |
| Café or small bar | 60-110 lb | UDP0080A |
| Restaurant, 80-120 seats | 120-180 lb | UDP0140A or UDP0190A |
| Busy bar, 50-70 seats | 150-210 lb | UDP0240A |
| High-volume bar or QSR soft drinks | 240-270 lb | UDP0310A or UYP0310A (half dice) |
| Seafood counter or salad bar | 200-330 lb flake | UFP0200A or UFP0350A |
Five common mistakes with Manitowoc undercounter machines
- Ordering a 50Hz model for a U.S. building. The UNK and UFK listings ending in AZ are 230V / 50Hz. Check the electrical line on the product page before you order.
- Sizing on the 70/50 figure. The UDP0080A is rated 110 lb/day but makes 75 lb/day at 90/70. A café that needs 90 lb on a hot day should step up to the UDP0140A.
- Choosing too small a bin. Production refills a bin over hours. If your busiest hour uses 50 lb, the 31 lb bin on a 20-inch model will run out even if daily output is enough.
- Ignoring the cabinet height. The 29-inch UNP0300A and UFP0350A stand about 39-1/2 inches tall, above a standard 36-inch counter. Check the installation drawing for every model's height before you order.
- Buying a legacy model by accident. UDE models are legacy and replaced by UDP versions. They can be fine for matching an existing setup, but check warranty terms first.
Flake or nugget? Choosing between Manitowoc's soft-ice machines
Both families use an auger to make soft ice, and their cabinets are almost the same size. The choice comes down to how the ice will be used.
| Question | Choose flake (UFP) | Choose nugget (UNP) |
|---|---|---|
| Will people drink it? | Occasionally (blended drinks) | Yes: soft drinks, iced tea, patient hydration |
| Will it pack around food? | Yes: seafood, produce, salad bars | Less well; pellets don't mold |
| How much do you need? | UFP0350A: 328 lb/day at 90/70 | UNP0300A: 275 lb/day at 90/70 |
| How much storage? | 50-60 lb | 20-50 lb |
A grocery store with a seafood case and a deli might use both: flake for the display and nugget at the café.
A worked example
A 90-seat restaurant with a 20-seat bar estimates its ice at 90 x 1.5 = 135 lb for the dining room plus 20 x 3 = 60 lb for the bar, about 195 lb a day. Its kitchen gets hot in summer. The UDP0190A (175 lb/day at 90/70) falls just short. The UDP0240A (197 lb/day at 90/70, 90 lb bin) covers it in the same 26-inch cabinet. If the bar later expands, the 30-inch UDP0310A adds headroom with a 119 lb bin.
Installation basics
- Power: U.S. models run on 115V / 60Hz single-phase. Give the machine its own circuit.
- Water: a cold potable water line. A water filter reduces scale, which is the main cause of lost output.
- Drain: a gravity drain below the machine, or a drain pump kit.
- Air: follow the clearances in the installation drawing. Don't size openings from marketing descriptions alone.
See our installation guide and installation checklist.
Cleaning and care
Clean and sanitize at least every six months, and more often for nugget and flake models. Their auger systems need regular water treatment and cleaning to keep making ice as intended. Our maintenance checklist and nugget cleaning guide cover the steps.
Warranty and support
Manitowoc's product data lists 3 years parts and labor on the commercial UCP0050A. For other undercounter models, our listings ask buyers to confirm the current commercial warranty. Terms can differ by model, by component (evaporator and compressor coverage is often longer) and for residential installation. Check the product page or ask us before ordering, and register the machine after installation. Our warranty guide explains the typical structure.
Manitowoc undercounter for healthcare
Clinics, dental offices and nursing units often choose the UNP0200A or UNP0300A. Nugget ice is soft for patients, and the undercounter cabinet keeps ice close to the point of care. Where patients or visitors help themselves, a countertop dispenser is more hygienic than a scoop-and-bin unit; see Manitowoc nugget ice machines for the CNP dispensers and healthcare ice machines for other brands.
Manitowoc vs other undercounter brands
Manitowoc's undercounter strength is its NEO dice-cube line in 26- and 30-inch cabinets with large 90-119 lb bins, the biggest bins in this size class among the brands we sell. For crescent or specialty ice, compare Hoshizaki undercounter ice machines. For gourmet ice and value-priced cubers, see Ice-O-Matic undercounter ice machines. For larger volumes on a separate bin, see Manitowoc Indigo NXT modular heads, or browse the whole Manitowoc ice machine range.
